Sharing The Wealth

Last week, two amazing things happened: I finally went public with my blog, sharing it with friends and family and I was Freshly Pressed.

Freshly Pressed

I started blogging as a New Year’s Resolution.  I thought, if I could blog once a week for a year, I would have accomplished a goal and gained a new creative outlet.  I never imagined that I would develop friendships with so many like-minded individuals, be truly inspired, and want to continue.  Because I started the blog as my own little pet project, I kept it to myself and didn’t tell a lot of people about it.  As soon as I did, I got rewarded.

An hour or so after clicking Publish and sharing my blog on Facebook, I received an email from the WordPress gods informing me that I was about to be Freshly Pressed.  Needless to say, I couldn’t believe it.  My heart raced and my stomach felt like the deepest cavern imaginable.  This can’t be happening to me.  I reached out to a few friends to let them know about the honor, but those outside of the blogging community, really couldn’t understand my excitement.  I discovered several of my favorite blogs after they were Freshly Pressed and now I was about to be launched into a new realm.

A day later, my post still hadn’t shown up on the Freshly Pressed page and a part of me thought that this might have all been some kind of mean joke.  But then, there it was and my phone started buzzing with notifications of new followers and comments.

I am delighted that so many of you could relate to not being able to say “no” and stuck around to see what else I could come up with.  Thank you for all of the insightful comments and feedback!

And since I am the type of person who likes to gift, I have two things to offer all the Wonderlings, both new and old, as a welcome and thank you for all the love.  Since I can’t Freshly Press all of you, I invite you all to pick a post and share it with the rest of us.  I will select three and feature them on my next post.  I have discovered many fun and interesting blogs when other bloggers have offered up their blogs as party places and I hope you all enjoy this little experience.  All I ask is that if you share a post, you agree to read and comment on another post.  It’s all about sharing the love.

The other gift I have to bestow is a giveaway.  Yay!  Everyone who shares a post will automatically be entered in a drawing to win the fun prizes you see below, as well as a few other little surprises.  (Giveaway is now closed.  Thanks all for playing!  You can continue to leave a favorite post and meet some fun new blogging friends.)

A super cool Andy Warhol flip notebook and a button to remind everyone that "no" is an answer!

Prize package includes: a super cool Andy Warhol flip notebook and a button to remind everyone that “no” is an answer!

If you’d like to increase your odds of winning, please like the Defining Wonderland Facebook page and let me know so I can give you two entries.

The contest ends Tuesday, July 16th at 5pm (PST) and the winner will be announced the following Thursday.

Best of luck to you all!

Wow! congrats on being freshly pressed! I’m relatively new to the blogging world as this is mainly used to show a more creative or real side to my company. Having done a few, I’m actually tempted to start up my own personal blog.

Oh my gosh congratulations Jessica! I am so happy for you and your blog getting Freshly Pressed! 😀 What a wonderful way it worked out, how you were finally comfortable enough to share your blog with the world, and then your blog was noticed for how wonderful it is and was further shared with the rest of the world! Like really does attract like! 🙂
This is one of my most recent favourite posts, mainly for the gifs and because they manage to cheer me up when I am being a grump haha 😛

Ack, I didn’t know you were freshly pressed, Jessica! Super big congrats! I’m so happy for you. I’ve been a little lax with blog reading lately because summer’s just been so darn busy but yours is always one I love to catch up on 🙂 I have to head over and read your fp post now!

Thanks, Rian! What is it about the summer that makes us all so busy? I’ve been pretty bad at keeping up with the reading and writing myself. There’s just so much else to do! 🙂
