I have returned home from Costa Rica where Karen and I had the most amazing time. We laughed as we explored the rain forest, made new friends (of both the animal and human variety), and bonded like we never have before. Over eleven days, we journeyed to five different cities, all celebrating Costa Rica’s success in the World Cup.
We dined on gallo pinto, pipped guaro cocktails, and got our fill of plantains at practically every meal. Each day present new adventures and I can’t wait to share with you all, once I get the photos edited. More items were checked off of my 30-before-30 list and Karen and I, with our new friend Miss Bliss, are already brainstorming a trip to Greece for next summer.
And though I loved my latest vacation, I was happy to return to the creature comforts of home and a schedule that has had me running around like crazy since I came home. There was a pre-Independence Day fireworks show, a holiday 5K (my 7th of the year), a 4th of July concert at the Hollywood Bowl featuring Steve Martin and the Steep Canyon Rangers, and the long-awaited wedding of Rose’s sister and her high school sweetheart, a marriage more than a decade in the making.
Sadly, work begins again tomorrow after a glorious two weeks off. The normal routine will again be a part of my everyday life and the memories of my latest adventure will have to satisfy my wanderlust until the next trip. I suppose it’s a good thing to have a job to go to that affords me the ability to travel, but man do I wish I could just keep exploring until I see every inch of the globe.
Until then, I’ll keep my passport handy.
