Memories Made In Mud

After two fun-filled days in Tortuguero, it was time to pack our bags, hop in the boat, and head to our next destination: La Fortuna.  We made the rounds of the resort saying goodbye and expressing our gratitude to our friends at Mawamba Lodge and we were off, ready for the next adventure.

The boat ride back to the bus had us spying a crocodile and more spider monkeys, but the real treat was after we had boarded our bus and got an up-close look at not one, but two of our most coveted Costa Rican species.

Shaking Frogs And Salsa Lessons

The thunderstorm raged through the night.  Rain pounded the roof and more than once, I awoke to the entire room illuminated from a lightning bolt.  It was wonderful.

The itinerary for our second day in Tortuguero included a nature walk through a frog pound and butterfly garden, all on the grounds of the Mawamba Lodge, followed by an afternoon cruise on the river where we would look for Costa Rica’s wildlife.  What we didn’t plan for was the rain.  Granted, we were the ones who decided to travel during the wet season so we knew what we were getting into.  Well, at least some of us.

Say Goodbye To My Little Friend

For years, I have been known for my love of Monster energy drinks. By no means addicted, I would indulge in one can a day in the morning the way some people enjoy their cups of coffee. On the rare days when I didn’t have one, I suffered from headaches and drowsiness.  One night, I even suffered the worst migraine of my life when I hadn’t had any caffeine that day.

That’s when I knew it was time to give them up.

And So It Begins… The Countdown To 30

Today is my birthday.  I am now 29.  That’s right, it’s the final birthday of my twenties and the last of my self-proclaimed “selfish years.”  I’ve never been one who is too big on celebrating an event that happens to everyone once a year, but this year, the end of an era, I feel a renewed fervor for this new time and the next 365 days.

And I’m going to live it up!

Inspired by so many of the bucket list bloggers, I have decided to embark on my own 30 before 30 list and I’ll be sharing my progress with all of you Wonderlings.  You can check out the list here and I will link to posts that pertain to items as they get accomplished.

And without further adieu, behold my own personal to-do list of goals before I turn 30…
