Over The Vineyards And Through The Clouds

I was bummed that unfavorable weather prevented my hot air balloon ride in Sedona, but I wasn’t willing to throw that item off the list in favor of something easier to check off.  Sure it was a setback, but this was something I could and would do.  For years I had wanted to experience a balloon ride, perhaps even ending up in the Land of Oz.  Hell, I would have been excited for a trip down a yellow brick road.

Welcome To 30

I turned 30 on a Thursday in May.  The day was a typical spring day in Southern California.  I stayed in bed a little longer than usual since I took the day off.  No one should work on their birthday and especially not a milestone birthday.  Nope, I had big plans for the day.  I would spend the day alone to get a little pampered and treat myself.

And So It Begins… The Countdown To 30

Today is my birthday.  I am now 29.  That’s right, it’s the final birthday of my twenties and the last of my self-proclaimed “selfish years.”  I’ve never been one who is too big on celebrating an event that happens to everyone once a year, but this year, the end of an era, I feel a renewed fervor for this new time and the next 365 days.

And I’m going to live it up!

Inspired by so many of the bucket list bloggers, I have decided to embark on my own 30 before 30 list and I’ll be sharing my progress with all of you Wonderlings.  You can check out the list here and I will link to posts that pertain to items as they get accomplished.

And without further adieu, behold my own personal to-do list of goals before I turn 30…

A Time To Celebrate

When life has swapped out your lemons and given you a free pass to all things fun and exciting, it’s hard to keep the happiness inside when all you want to do is scream from the rooftops, “Life is awesome!”  And the best part is, you can.  It seems that as we get older we often forget to celebrate ourselves.  It’s completely normal to attend a birthday or graduation party, but outside of bridal or baby showers, when did we lose the art of celebration?

I’m here to tell you all to go ahead and celebrate.  There is nothing wrong with cracking open a bottle of wine you’ve been saving for a special occasion or treating yourself to a hot stone massage when the boss tells you what a great job you’ve been doing or you reach a particular milestone in your blogging journey (Happy blogiversary shout outs to LauraRian, Tobi, and Jules!).  Here are some of my favorite ways to celebrate.

Rushing Towards The Holidays

Is it just me or is the Christmas season starting earlier and earlier each year?

At the end of August last year, I marvelled that Costco, a local warehouse store, was already selling Christmas items when most people were gearing up for Labor Day barbeques.  Wrapping paper, artificial trees, and pre-packaged gift sets were out for all to see and purchase.  I couldn’t believe my eyes, but, given that I was a new Costco shopper, I figured that the brand had a different retail schedule than the stores I was used to.

Clearly, I was wrong.

Celebrating A Totally Awesome Day

Have you ever had one of those perfect days?  You know, when the planets align and everything just seems to go in your favor?  The sun is shining, the birds are chirping, and you could burst into song at any moment because you are just incredibly happy.

Today was one of those days and I just have to share it.

From the moment the Santa Ana Winds woke me up from my slumber on the couch (I sleep there from time to time) with their mighty blows noisily shaking everything in the apartment, it has just been a great day.  I must have done something really good to warrant a day like this and I have been thoroughly enjoying every minute.
